Jürgen Knautz is as an upright and electric bass player a demanded accompanist of some well-known European jazz vocalists like Silvia Droste, Greetje Kauffeld, Beverley Dailey, Wayne Bartlett or Knut Kiesewetter. He played with saxophone greats Gerd Dudek, Charlie Mariano and Lee Konitz. Nevertheless, his style is not limited to jazz music. Besides many different jazz-, soul- and pop productions he can be heared as an upright player on Götz Alsmann`s (one of the leading German TV-entertainers) last four records. Australian guitar legend Tommy Emmanuel relied on his abilities for his European gigs , as well as metal virtuoso Victor Smolski for his outstanding Bach-CD "Majesty And Passion". In 2006 he joined "Ten Of The Best", an ensemble of some of the world´s leading trumpet players. Jürgen Knautz works as a musician, composer and arranger for film, radio and television, and has been arranger and musical director for international stage shows.
As a producer and bassplayer he has received the German music critic´s award 2007
for "Under Suspicion" (Matt Walsh Acoustic Quartet).
